Aden has an ideal geographical location as noted in the Analytical Report, while Yemen is currently challenged by internal political conflict and civil unrest, it does not change the fact that Aden is strategically located. Aden’s advantages are that it: Is in an ideal location to serve the region’s maritime trade and is well located for regional airline and cargo business; Enjoys excellent climatic conditions throughout the year, with almost no adverse weather; Has large water areas with ideal sub-bottom conditions that are easy to dredge and that provide excellent materials on which to build; Has extensive land areas for Free Zone development adjacent to the Port and Airport;
Has an Airport at sea level capable of serving ICAO Code E (FAA Group V) aircraft with flight paths over water on two sides, with a runway that could be extended to handle the largest Aircrafts in the globe.
Has a Port access channel that experiences almost no siltation and could be dredged to virtually any required working depth? Has a talented local labor pool that, given the right opportunities, skills and motivation, cancompete with the best in the region.
Aden is directly on the main east-west trading route, saving 1,350 nm for a ship in comparison with the need to call at a Gulf port. Capitalizing on its location, there is great potential for sea-air cargo operations, and Free Zone business development at Aden that could produce goods for regional and International markets.
